Being at your lowest is, hands down, one of the worst feelings. When your days begin to blend together, and the things that once brought you joy now bring you anxiety. Suddenly, it feels like nothing is going right, and your mind becomes fixated on only the bad aspects of your life.
Sound familiar?
This constant cycle of feeling down is commonly called “hitting rock bottom.” This looks like different things to different people. For one person, hitting rock bottom can be losing a $10 in a heated Uno game. For someone else, this can be not being able to make their rent for the month. This is where perspective comes into play. In trying moments, try to view your circumstances, people, and the world through the lens of the divine truth rather than through limited human understanding. God tells us to fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. (2 Corinthians 4:18) Be sure to always put things in perspective and praise God for all the things you have, regardless of the circumstance.
On that note, when we do hit rock bottom, we always have a divine rock, Jesus! Jesus is our rock, soul, and shield on all roads of danger. Draw near to Him in times of sadness, depression, and anger. He will be right there waiting with open arms to hear and console your cry.
Psalms 18:2-3 reads, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.” Remember that you always have a friend in the Lord. Call on him today because he’s waiting. Thank him for what has already been done. Most importantly, remember that hard times do not always last!
Concluding Thoughts
Despite times of trouble, we have a miracle worker at hand. Stay consistent in prayer and thanksgiving with the Lord. Trouble won’t last always, family!
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for the happy and sad times. Regardless of the circumstance, each day we wake up is a new opportunity to praise Your Holy name. That alone is a reason to smile. Lord, we thank You for our health, for our brothers and sisters in Christ, and we thank You for being You! We pray that the way we carry ourselves reflects Your loving spirit, and that we spread the love You bestow upon us to everyone daily. Allow us to remember that every trial produces perseverance, and every bad day only makes us more grateful for the happy ones. We know that in order for us to see the sunny days, it must rain, but because of Your grace and mercy, we know that all storms are temporary! Thank You in advance. Amen.
